A day after resuming charge as CBI director, Alok Kumar Verma transfers five officers
New agency ANI reported that director Verma has signed on transfer orders for five officers, namely joint director Ajay Bhatnagar, DIG MK Sinha, DIG Tarun Gauba, joint director Murugesan and assistant director AK Sharma.
It has also been reported that Anish Prasad will continue to serve as deputy director (Administration, CBI Headquarters), while KR Chaurasia will head the Special Unit-I, which is tasked with carrying out surveillance.
Verma resumed work as CBI director on Wednesday after a gap of 77 days, a day after the Supreme Court quashed the Central government’s October 23, 2018 order sending him on leave. In the order issued by the Central Vigilance Commission, Verma as well his deputy, special director Rakesh Asthana were sent on indefinite leave and divested of all powers amidst a public faceoff between them over corruption charges.
Yesterday, resuming his duties as the agency chief, Verma issued two orders and annulled the transfers implemented by interim chief Rao.
Additional director Rao, after taking charge as CBI director late night on October 23, 2018, had issued seven transfer orders on the morning of October. He had issued second set of transfer orders for officers of Joint Director Rank On January 3, 2019.
